England international Steven in Turf Moor return

Trevor Steven
Steven is one of the finest young talents I've ever seen come through our youth team. He made his debut at the age of seventeen and was a regular in the side by the time his eighteenth birthday came along.

He played in the side that won the third division in 1982 but also in the side that suffered relegation a year later. His last game for Burnley was the defeat at Crystal Palace in May 1983 that saw us relegated and he'll see two others from that game when he arrives tomorrow.

Centre half Vince Overson, now our Head of Youth Development, was just returning from injury at the time and came on as a substitute. That night we had Lee Dixon at right back and he's part of the BBC team.

Trevor, still a teenager, moved on to a glittering career with Everton, Rangers and Marseille before hanging up his boots in the mid-90s and he's since done some television work and is now a football agent north of the border.

This will be his second return to the Turf, and judging by his reaction (and the crowds to him) last time he was here it was an experience he very much enjoyed.
