England call for young goalkeeper King

Last updated : 16 September 2013 By Tony Scholes

Connor is currently the under-15 goalkeeper at Burnley. He's in his third season with the club and a few weeks ago was invited to a training camp for the schoolboys team. That's led to this call up for the team which is coached by Kenny Swain.

He will compete with Millwall's Ryan Sandford for the goalkeeper's berth for this game against Wales which will be played at Aggborough, home of Kidderminster, on Friday 4th October.

The game will be screened live on Sky Sports 2.

From everyone involved with Clarets Mad I'd like to send congratulations to Connor and wish him the very best in what I hope will be the first of many appearances for England.

The full squad is:

Goalkeepers: Connor King (Burnley), Ryan Sandford (Millwall).

Defenders: Danny Collinge (MK), Benjamin Cull (Southampton), Ro-Shaun Oman Williams (Man Ut), Reece Oxford (West Ham), Ben Sheaf (West Ham), Charlie Wakefield (Chelsea), James Yates (Everton).

Midfielders: Liam Bell (Newcastle), Tom Davies (Everton), Jacob Maddox (Chelsea), William Patching (Man City), Christopher Willock (Arsenal).

Forwards: Rishian Hepburn-Murphy (Aston Villa), Kaylen Hines (Arsenal), Layton Ndukwu (Leicester), Adam Phillips (Liverpool).
