Elliott takes the Vicarage Road points

It was a disappointing night for Burnley overall, and for some of our stranded fans in particular, but Elliott was in the same sort of form that had seen him play so well in the FA Cup tie against West Brom three days earlier.

He claimed over a third of the vote in the man of the match with 34.1% whilst another player very much in form, Robbie Blake, was second with 12.6% of the vote. Just behind Robbie with 12.3% was Martin Paterson and that gave him third place.

On a night when the player ratings weren't too high overall it was Elliott again in first place with a rating of 6.64 out of 10. And just above the average rating of 6 came both Graham Alexander and Steven Caldwell who were joint second with a rating of 6.09.

That gives Elliott six points towards the player of the year. There are two points each for Alexander, Blake and Caldwell whilst Paterson also picks up a point.

Paterson's point means he stretches his lead in the player of the year table to nine points over Chris Eagles. All the other points awarded went to the players in positions six to nine, and they are edging closer to the top group. Elliott's six point haul has lifted him to seventh place.
