Edgar wins first cap

David Edgar
He was introduced on 66 minutes, coming on for Norwich City's Simeon Jackson, he who has difficulty staying on his feet. Edgar came on five minutes after Giannis Fetfatzidis had scored the only goal of the game.

Elsewhere there were some former Burnley players on international duty. Scotland beat Northern Ireland 3-0 in their Carling Nations Club clash at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Phil Bardsley, with Burnley on loan in the 2005/06 season, made his second Scotland appearance in this game alongside our former captain Steven Caldwell.

For Caldwell it was an 11th cap and his first since playing in the World Cup qualifier against Norway in Oslo. That was just before the start of the 2009/10 season and the injury he suffered led to him being ruled out for long parts of the season.

One other former Burnley player involved last night was Gabor Kiraly. He helped Hungary to a 2-0 friendly win against Azerbaijan in Dubai. That's taken him to 79 caps which is comfortably the most caps won by any player who has also represented Burnley.
