Edgar, Paterson and Vokes set for their travels

It's crunch time for Edgar and Canada. They are set to play the last two games of their group in round three of the North, Central America and Caribbean section and are currently placed third of four countries with two to qualify for the next round.

Panama lead the group with nine points, both Honduras and Canada have seven points with Cuba out of the running without a single point. All of them have played four of their six games.

Canada simply have to win the first of their two games, against Cuba in Toronto a week today before travelling to San Pedro Sula to face Honduras in what could prove to be a crucial decider between the two four days later.

Martin Paterson is back with Northern Ireland after missing the last two games, preferring instead to remain in Burnley to boost his fitness after suffering a hamstring tear in the first game of the season against Bolton.

They've got just the one game this time round, against Portugal at the Estadio Do Dragao, Porto on Tuesday 16th October. To date, Northern Ireland have one point from two games. They drew at home against Luxembourg before going down 2-0 against Russia in Moscow.

That's one more point than Wales who have opened up with two defeats, 2-0 at home to Belgium and 6-1 in Serbia, the latter providing them with considerable criticism from former players and pundits alike.

Vokes, who now has 23 caps, was a substitute in the Belgium defeat but didn't feature in the loss to Serbia but he's been named in Chris Coleman's squad for their next two qualifiers. They play Scotland a week today in Cardiff before travelling to Osijek to play Croatia on the following Tuesday.
