Owen Coyle - is he set to sign David Edgar?
The 22-year-old Edgar is out of contract at the Championship club and the north east press are suggesting that he is unhappy with the terms of his new offer and is ready to move on. He's had talks with Birmingham, but they have stalled, and it is said he is now poised to become a Burnley player.

His favoured position is in the centre of defence but he's been utilised at right back by the St. James' Park club. The Canadian born Edgar, whose dad is a former Toon goalkeeper, made his first team debut on Boxing Day 2006 in a 2-1 defeat at Bolton.

He scored on his home debut against Manchester United and he's gone on to make a total of 23 appearances, with 13 of them starts), the last of which ended with him sent off in the defeat at Aston Villa that saw his side relegated.

That would mean, should he sign for the Clarets, that he would be unavailable for our game at Stoke as he serves a one match ban.

Any deal would be subject to a fee given the age of the player and if the clubs couldn't come to an agreement it would go to a tribunal.

The Newcastle press are giving the indication that this is more than mere speculation and expect him to become a Burnley player.
