Laws has stressed that he would like Eagles to remain at Turf Moor, commit himself to the club and sign a new contract, but if he's not prepared to do that then the club will have to take actions to ensure he doesn't go for nothing.
"Chris is just getting his head down and focusing on football at the moment," Laws said. "Obviously his contract runs out next summer and we cannot allow his contract to run down.
"So one of two things has to happen. Either he re-signs, which we would be absolutely delighted with, or he moves on. We're waiting for Chris and his advisor to get back to us at the moment on what he wants to do."
Eagles has been in good form during the pre-season and has scored four goals in total including one in each of the three games played in Singapore.
