On a brilliant night, Eagles, who said he enjoyed the chanting aimed at the visiting manager, was in sparkling form and was the latest big winner in the man of the match vote. He polled no less than 58.1% of the vote, the sixth time in nine games this season that the winner has claimed more than half of the vote.

For Eagles, it was his second man of the match award having won it in the previous round when we beat Morecambe 3-1 at the Globe Arena.

It was a fight then for second place and so many top performances in the Burnley team. Jack Cork, the big winner at Crystal Palace was second with 13% and Wade Elliott, who scored the only goal of the game, was third and he had just 8.4% of the vote.

We had the same top two in the player ratings with Eagles the first player this season to hit 9 in a game. His rating was 9.00 out of 10, but it had to be high to win it. Cork came in second with a rating of 8.50 and the hugely impressive Clarke Carlisle, who on another day would have swept the board with his performance at the back, was third with a rating of 8.34 out of 10.

Eagles takes six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year and there are four points for Cork with one each for Carlisle and Elliott. Those points have seen Eagles and Cork move into second and third places behind Andre Bikey who has seen his lead at the top cut to just twelve points.

Voting continues right now for the man of the match from the Bristol City game last Saturday. It runs until the end of tomorrow after which the voting will start for tomorrow's home game against Hull City.
