He gave the Spurs defence a torrid time as the Clarets went 1-0 up and outplayed their Premier League opponents on their own ground, and it is no surprise to see that his first half performance has given him top billing on Clarets Mad with first place in the man of the match vote and the player ratings.

Eagles polled 34.8% of the vote to take first place in the vote with striker Martin Paterson second with 22.2%. Paterson scored the goal and, playing up front on his own, gave Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Dawson plenty of difficult moments.

Wade Elliott, again playing in the centre of midfield and even replacing Joey Gudjonsson in the holding role, came third with 12.7% of the vote.

Eagles and Paterson also claimed the top two places in the player ratings. Eagles, again the winner, had a rating of 8.13 out of 10 whilst Paterson was second with a rating of 7.77. Chris McCann took third place with a rating of 7.52.

Eagles wins six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Season, and there are four votes for Paterson and one each for Elliott and McCann.

The points have made no difference to the placings at the top of the table but Eagles has now reduced Paterson's lead at the top to just eight points. McCann remains third and Elliott goes above Graham Alexander and Robbie Blake into seventh place.
