Eagles flies into third place

Chris Eagles
It was arguably his best performance yet in Burnley colours, and it didn't go unnoticed with the ITV singing his praises on The Championship the following day, and I suspect Cardiff boss Dave Jones must have taken note given the way they defended against him on Tuesday. He was a massive winner in the man of the match, polling no less than 61% of the vote.

Stephen Jordan, who moved from left back to the centre of defence at the last minute following the injury to Michael Duff, had another excellent game and came second with 15% of the vote, whilst Graham Alexander's performance at left back earned him third place with 5.1% of the vote.

After a good all round team performance the player ratings were high, but none quite so high as Eagles' rating of 8.89 out of 10. Again Jordan came second with a rating of 8.67 and his fellow central defender Steven Caldwell came third, his rating was 8.39 out of 10.

Chris Eagles wins six points towards the player of the season, Jordan gets four points and there's one each for Alexander and Caldwell.

Those points have taken Eagles into third place having gone above his captain whilst Jordan has move up three places to ninth in the table.
