Dyche and Shackell get nominations

For Dyche it is a second successive nomination. He was one of four managers named in August with the award eventually going to Blackpool's Paul Ince.

This month he's up against Leicester's Nigel Pearson, Watford boss Gianfranco Zola and Steve Lomas who, after a shocking start, engineered three successive wins for Millwall.

Maybe all eyes were on Danny Ings for the player nominations but we conceded just three goals in five league and cup games during the month and that's seen Shackell among the four players competing for September.

He's up against QPR goalkeeper Robert Green along with Reading's Danny Guthrie and David McGoldrick of Ipswich.

Burnley's September got off to a disappointing start as local rivals Blackburn scored a late goal to deny us a win against them at the Turf, but after that it was as good a month as it could possibly have been.

League wins against Birmingham, Leeds and Charlton followed with a Capital One success against Nottingham Forest. The Birmingham and Charlton wins were both by 3-0 with 2-1 victories recorded in the win at Leeds and the cup win against Forest.

The month left us with the opportunity to go top on the first day of October, an opportunity we took with Tuesday's win at Doncaster, and now we await tomorrow's news as to whether Dyche, Shackell or both have been personally rewarded for our outstanding month.
