Duo to make draw

John Mullin
They are John Mullin and Gareth Taylor who both signed for the Wirral club in the summer of 2006 following the appointment of Ronnie Moore as manager, although John is missing out at the moment through injury and hasn't played a first team game this season.

It is just over six years since Mullin left Burnley, and it was Moore who signed him then for Rotherham after the Clarets had strengthened the midfield with the capture of Tony Grant.

It brought to an end a third spell with the club. He'd started his career with us before going to Sunderland, returned for a short loan during Chris Waddle's season as manager, and then returned on a permanent basis on the eve of that promotion season in the summer of 1999.

He remained with Rotherham until Moore took him to Tranmere and paired him with his former Burnley team mate Gareth Taylor although they weren't at Burnley together for too long.

Taylor arrived from Manchester City in February 2001 on loan and spent most of the remainder of that season at Burnley.

Gareth Taylor
In the summer of 2001 Stan Ternent made the move a permanent one with Taylor coming in on a Bosman transfer. He was a virtual regular for the next two seasons but with the club's finances anything but good he was sold to Nottingham Forest just after the start of the 2003/04 season.

He played for Crewe on loan during 2005/06 but when released by Forest at the end of that season he chose Tranmere ahead of Crewe. Unlike John, he's been very much part of the side this season and has scored a couple of goals, both of which earned Tranmere points.

It will be good to see them back, they played for us during some good times. John made his debut in the promotion season of 1993/94 and was back with the Clarets when we went up again in 2000, whilst Gareth was part of the Burnley side that came within a goal of reaching the play offs in 2002. If only his goal at Preston had not been wrongly disallowed.
