Duffy back on the south coast

Duffy arrived, initially as cover for the doubtful John McGreal, in time for the Stoke game and then found himself getting a first start three days later in place of the suspended Michael Duff.

He’s been in and out of the side and has made just five starts as well as four substitute appearances. Two of those starts came against Villa and Spurs in the Carling Cup.

But despite this he has played well whenever called on and his performances have been even better given that on most occasions he has not played in his natural defensive position.

He has started games on the right hand side of midfield and even on the left, at Leeds, when he scored the winning goal in front of some three and a half thousand Clarets.

As he returns to Portsmouth we can offer our thanks to both him and his club and I’m sure we’ll be keeping a keen interest in his progress in the future.
