Duff ruled out of internationals

Along with Martin Paterson, and former Claret Kyle Lafferty, Duff was to have linked up with Nigel Worthington's squad for their two games, away to Slovenia this coming Saturday and then at home to San Marino on the following Wednesday.

However, he'll miss out because of the injury he suffered in trying to prevent Reading's second goal scored by Stephen Hunt and will not be able to add to the 21 caps he's already won for his country.

Since suffering his cruciate ligament injury in September last year he's played just once for Northern Ireland. That was in the August friendly against Scotland when he played the last fifteen minutes after replacing Ipswich's Gareth McAuley.

This latest injury comes just after he'd won his place back in the Burnley side as a replacement for Russell Anderson whose season came to an end in the cup tie against Fulham. Duff will now be hoping to be fit for the visit of Birmingham a week on Saturday.
