Dublin – yes we want him

This was just about confirmed by the chairman this week but had been preceded by suggestions that we were interested in signing Crouch’s Villa team mate, the vastly experienced Dion Dublin.

Apparently we had been involved in talks with both him and Leicester’s Gerry Taggart and there did seem to be ample evidence to back up both stories even though neither of them have arrived at Turf Moor.

Villa boss David O’Leary kept saying that none of his players were available, he needed them all at Villa Park, but then promptly allowed Hassan Kachloul to go out on loan to Wolves.

Rotherham boss Ronnie Moore (he of the too small dressing rooms) enquired about Dublin and not it has been confirmed that Burnley have also made enquiries.

Villa boss O’Leary said, "The situation hasn’t changed from when Rotherham were interested in taking Dion. We haven’t got the biggest squad and Dion is part of it.

"Especially now that Hassan Kachloul has gone on loan at Wolves we could get stretched if any of our other attacking players went out on loan."

So for now it looks a no go regards Dublin becoming a Claret, but who knows things can change very quickly and it might not be too long before he is seen in a different looking Claret & Blue shirt.
