Drysdale gets second Burnley game

The 35 year old official enjoyed a Burnley free first season but just three months ago refereed his first Burnley game at Cardiff, and it was this referee who brought Ade Akinbiyi's Burnley career to an earlier end than expected.

He yellow carded him at Cardiff, and it was a ridiculous booking, and that brought about the suspension that forced him to miss the home game against Preston and meant that the defeat at Cardiff was his last ever Burnley game.

Steve Cotterill was far from happy with his performance and claimed that he refereed it well for Cardiff all afternoon, β€œIt was a good refereeing performance for them,” he said.

This season he is averaging not far short of 4 yellow cards per game with 112 from 30 games and he's also sent off nine players including three in eight games since our defeat at Cardiff. One of the three was the dismissal of Marlon Beresford, playing for Luton at Preston, but this was squashed on appeal although Mike Newell was charged for using abusive words towards the referee.

Although picking up yellow cards isn't quite so important now, there should be no real worries with this referee. He continues to hit the home players just as much as the away players and 60 of those yellow cards have gone to home players with just 52 to away players.

Not only will he be refereeing for the first time at Hull, it will be the first Hull game he's taken charge of and he will be assisted by Dave Birkett (Lincolnshire) and Dave Foster (Tyne & Wear) whilst fourth official duties will be carried out by Scott Duncan, also from Tyne & Wear.
