Drop this charge

Supporters spoke out against it at the time but the club stoutly defended the decision, a decision that was made following a suggestion from the Supporters Consultation Group.

Letter went into the club complaining about it and the Trust made a representation during the summer in the hope of having the charge removed – they were unsuccessful as the club doggedly stuck to it.

The truth for many finally hit home this week when the new charge finally kicked in on the day of the Sheffield United game and no matter what the club will say it meant some people, who would otherwise have been at the game, chose not to attend.

I saw supporters walking away from the turnstile whilst I spoke to another fan on Wednesday who tried to buy tickets in the morning but decided against it when the charge was added, he also cancelled his order for two Coventry tickets.

We can all see that the attendance was low on Tuesday, with a confirmed attendance of over 2,000 in the away end it means there was a home attendance of under 10,000 and that for the first home game of the season is worrying. The club have worryingly suggested the Manchester United game contributed to the poor attendance.

It is refreshing to hear season ticket holders speaking out strongly against this charge, it doesn’t affect them, and the club have even tried to suggest it makes the season ticket better value. No it doesn’t Burnley FC, that I can assure you.

They did suggest that they would review it, well now is the time. You should already have reviewed it after the poor attendance and after the letters and emails of complaint that have gone in.

Whatever the real reasons for putting on this charge, you really have got it wrong, and all it appears to be doing now is alienating supporters when our club needs them more than ever.

It is time for Burnley Football Club to become a Club for its People, that should be more than just a slogan.

Clarets Mad have been inundated with emails, comments and posts on the message board about this and we are asking Burnley Football Club to review it NOW and please drop this charge before it does even more harm.
