Hamilton's youngster James McCarthy was first linked with us during last week with his club reportedly turning down a deal for him. There were suggestions we'd offered between £750,000 and £1 million for the 18-year-old Glaswegian who has been capped for the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level.
Coyle still very much wants him although it is not likely that he will up his offer significantly and that's also the case for Hearts' winger Andrew Driver who has seemingly been a target ever since Coyle arrived at Turf Moor as Burnley manager.
Last summer we confirmed that two offers had been made, but both failed and at the time new Hearts' boss Csaba Laszio said if we wanted him we would have a fight on our hands.
We didn't win that fight but a year later we have again reportedly made offers for Driver who was in the England squad that lost in the final of the UEFA Under-21 Champions last week against Germany.
Last week it was thought Hearts had turned down an offer that guaranteed them £1.2 million with add ons. What happens next remains to be seen but there is no doubt that Driver very much remains a player Owen Coyle would like to bring to Burnley.
However, just last week, Laszio said: "I think it is important for Andrew Driver to stay one or two more years here at Tynecastle to learn the football and stabilise his performance not only on the field but outside the field as well. He can then go to the next level if he gets the possibility."
