Driver and McCarthy linked again

The press are today reporting that we've had offers for both players rejected. Driver was constantly linked with Burnley last summer and the Clarets did confirm making two offers for him, both of which were turned down.

We didn't pursue it and it looked as though he was no longer on the shopping list as we moved for Middlesbrough's Adam Johnson, like Driver a member of the England Under-21 squad.

But the price for Johnson looks to be far too high and there could be an offer for Driver who has been interesting Coventry. Reports suggest we have had a bid of £2 million, with just £1.25 million initially, turned down by Hearts.

Likewise it is reported that a £1 million bid has failed to secure the 18-year-old Glasgow born McCarthy who has played for the Republic of Ireland at under-17, under-18, under-19 and under-21 level.

It is almost three years since he made his debut for Hamilton whilst still 15 years of age and he's gone on to play over 100 games for Hamilton.

We'll await news of these two as deals for Tyrone Mears, David Edgar and Steven Fletcher look to be getting closer.
