Dowie goes and that's nine

Dowie has been at the Ricoh for just under a year, replacing Micky Adams on 20th February 2007 but despite the fact they are still in the FA Cup after wins against Blackburn and Millwall, the board have looked at the current league form.

Coventry were top early in the season and when they beat Preston at the beginning of September they had ten points from four games, but this time it is a defeat against Preston that's done the damage and taken it to five defeats from the last six league games.

Four of those defeats have been away from home and the only one at home came against the Clarets when goals from Ade Akinbiyi and Robbie Blake gave us all three points three weeks ago.

Dowie was one of the bright lights in management a few years ago, but relegation followed by a disappointing season led to an acrimonious departure from Crystal Palace, one that cost him in a court of law, and now he's been sacked for a second time in fifteen months.

His brother Bob Dowie and assistant manager Tim Flowers have also been relieved of their duties by the Sky Blues board whilst Frankie Bunn, once the goalscoring sensation of Joe Royle's Oldham, and John Harbin have been placed in temporary charge.

The other eight Championship clubs to have already made a change are Burnley, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Norwich, Plymouth, Preston, QPR and Southampton.
