So Dowd it is, and last time he was at the Turf the game got off to a sensational start with the Clarets going 3-0 up in the opening eleven minutes against Southampton.
Over the years he's not often had bad games with the Clarets and we've even been able to beat Leeds when he's refereed our games against them, not once but twice.
He's not afraid to use his cards, that's for sure. He led the way in the Premier League over the weekend with six yellow cards in Tottenham's home win against Liverpool, three to each side, and last year rattled up no less than 148 yellows and 11 reds in 45 games.
Three of those red cards came in one Championship game between Birmingham and Preston, the game that saw Preston grab a late winner and leave us waiting a week to confirm our play off place.
Two more of the red cards upset Sir Alex Ferguson when he dismissed both Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney as they lost 2-0 at Fulham. That was his last Manchester United game.
He will be assisted tonight by Adam Watts (Worcestershire) and Trevor Massey (Cheshire). The fourth official is scheduled to be Mark Halsey (Bolton) but it was reported yesterday on Sky Sports News that he's had a tumour removed from his throat and will be out of action for a while. We send him our best wishes.
