Donny made it a Yorkshire double at the bottom

League One football at the Keepmoat again next season

As the games went into stoppage time they looked safe, despite trailing Leicester 1-0 at the King Power, but a Birmingham equaliser from Paul Caddis deep into stoppage time at Bolton changed everything and condemned Doncaster to relegation after just one year back in the Championship.

It was a cruel way for it to happen, but it looked even more cruel when I saw the penalty awarded by the appalling Paul Tierney to Leicester which gave David Nugent his 20th league goal of the season.

It was a shocker but it means Donny will be playing League One football next season, two divisions below Leicester.

That, and the battle for sixth place, were the only issues at stake on Saturday as the league season came to an end with Leicester as champions, Burnley runners up, with Derby, QPR, Wigan and Brighton to fight for the remaining Premier League place in the play offs.

Again Brighton have had the highest average home attendance. It's 27,283. Our final figure is 13,721 and only Barnsley, Bournemouth, Doncaster, Millwall and Yeovil are below that.

On the field the Championship has given us 228 home wins, 168 away wins, 116 score draws and just 40 no score draws. A total of 1,434 goals have been scored.

Reading have had the biggest home win, beating Bolton 7-1, and all of Watford, Bolton and Derby have won an away game 5-1 at Barnsley, Leeds and Millwall respectively. The most popular score has been 1-1, a total of 74 games have ended with that scoreline.

Leicester had the best run of wins with 9, and a run of 21 games unbeaten, also the best. The longest run of defeats was Birmingham and Leeds with five whilst the longest run without a win was Blackpool's run of 17 games.

We kept 19 clean sheets in the league season. The only team to better that were Brighton who had one more. Poor Barnsley were the worst with only six.

Burnley failed to score seven times, a total equalled by Forest. It was bettered though by the champions Leicester who scored in all but three of their games.

Below are the results and stats from last Saturday, the leading goalscorers, the disciplinary records and the highest and lowest attendances.

That's it for now in the Championship. Over the summer and into next season Clarets Mad will concentrate on the Premier League.
