Doncaster's Keepmoat beckons for Sharp

Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium - set to be Billy Sharp's home ground

Being a football fan I can relate to that. Once given the chance to play for YOUR club it must be difficult to agree to move, although it is something Sharp had done once previously when he moved to Scunthorpe.

Blades' boss Kevin Blackwell admitted to being delighted that Sharp was staying, but behind the words he was clearly far from happy because he needed that money to bring in other players.

So, when Doncaster came calling for the player they had on loan last season, Sheffield United were quick to agree a fee which has been confirmed at £1.15 million and Sharp now looks likely to have no option but to play his football away from Bramall Lane.

He's set to join up with Sean O'Driscoll again at the Keepmoat and that will allow Blackwell to bring in much needed players at Sheffield United. Those linked, should this deal go through today, are Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy and Simon Walton, the former Leeds, Charlton, Ipswich, Cardiff and QPR midfielder who is currently with Plymouth.
