Doc to make draw

Mick Docherty
Docherty, who has had three separate spells with Burnley, was captain of the side that won the FA Youth Cup in 1968. He was soon playing in the first team and captained the side on a few occasions.

He became a regular member of the side that won promotion in 1973 but suffered two injuries, one just before the end of that season and one in the first game of the season following promotion. That second one at Bramall Lane, a cruciate ligament injury, kept him out of the side for a long time.

He remained with Burnley until the end of the 1975/76 season and came back twice as a member of the coaching staff. Frank Casper brought him in as assistant manager in 1988 and he held that position for two years before leaving to join Stan Ternent at Hull.

It was Ternent who brought him back to the Turf in 1998, initially as youth coach. He was later reserve team coach and then first team coach and remained at Burnley until the end of the Ternent era in 2004. He's since worked at Gillingham and Huddersfield.

Last season he was one of the ex-Clarets who hosted the corporate guests, tonight he'll be back out on the pitch where over forty years ago he lifted the FA Youth Cup.
