Doc back in football

Mick Docherty
Docherty has been part of the match day team recently at Turf Moor, acting as host in the 1882 Lounge and conducting the ground tours for match day guests, but he's returned to coaching and rejoined Stan Ternent and Ronnie Jepson as part of the Huddersfield Town team.

Working with them is nothing new to Docherty. He left his role as assistant manager at Burnley in 1991 to join Ternent at Hull, that was the move that brought Jimmy Mullen to Burnley.

In 1998 he returned to the Turf when Ternent took over as manager, joining a coaching team that included Sam Ellis and Jimmy Robson, and later Jepson. More recently he worked alongside Ronnie Jepson at Gillingham whilst he was manager.

So it is very much the team together now at Huddersfield apart from Ellis who is number two to Kevin Blackwell at Sheffield United.

Huddersfield boss Ternent said of the appointment: "I like to bring my own men in. A lot of lads come through the academy and it is important for them to continue their development in the reserve team and the first team. Mick, along with Ronnie and I, will ensure this happens."

Docherty added: "Both Ronnie and myself have had recent experience of League One and Stan has a great track record in signing and selling players to assemble promotion winning squads. It is great to be back working with them and I firmly believe we can be successful."
