Clarke Carlisle - moves into joint second place
Clarke Carlisle, despite being the Burnley player involved with the penalty that brought Blackpool's first equaliser was named Man of the Match in our voting poll, whilst it was his central defensive partner Steven Caldwell who won via the player ratings thread on the message board.

They polled over half of the vote between them. Carlisle picked up the maximum three points towards our Player of the Season with 26.7% of the vote whilst Caldwell was not far behind him, polling 25.0% of the vote and taking the two points. Robbie Blake was involved in our first goal and his overall performance was good enough to take third place after he polled 15% of the vote.

The same three players took the points from the player ratings in which only Caldwell scored a rating of over seven. He was the winner with an average of 7.06 and won the three points whilst Carlisle and Blake took joint second place having both won ratings of 6.55.

Adding the latest points takes Carlisle alongside Andy Gray in joint second place, just a point behind goalkeeper Brian Jensen who picked up the maximum six points in each of the two Carling Cup ties.

The current totals towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year are:

11: Clarke Carlisle & Andy Gray
9: Kyle Lafferty
8: Robbie Blake
6: Steven Caldwell & David Unsworth
5: Alan Mahon
