Defenders claim first leg points

Brian Jensen
Goalkeeper Brian Jensen won the man of the match vote but he was pushed into second place in the player ratings by captain Steven Caldwell who hadn't made the top three in the man of the match.

Jensen recorded 39.5% of the vote to win the man of the match and behind him in second place was central defender Clarke Carlisle with 21.6%. Penalty scorer Alexander took third place with 12.4% of the vote.

With the Clarets keeping a clean sheet in a difficult game it was no surprise to see the defenders on top and that was definitely reflected in the player ratings. Caldwell won that with a rating of 8..09 out of 10 and that was just ahead of Jensen who had a rating of 8.03. Caldwell's partner at the back Carlisle came third with a rating of 7.97 out of 10.

Jensen picks up five points towards the player of the year whilst there are three each for the two central defenders Caldwell and Carlisle with Alexander picking up one point.

It still leaves Robbie Blake eleven points clear at the top but Jensen, in second place, has now pulled ten points clear of third place Martin Paterson.
