Dean to take charge

The man selected for duty is Premiership referee Mike Dean who has had a very eventful start to the season with 26 yellow and 3 red cards already in just 6 matches.

One of those red cards came just last Sunday at Maine Road when he dismissed KKMC's Danny Tiatto for a challenge on David Thompson. This was a good decision though by Dean and even KK himself said that the player would be disciplined.

The other two to see red from this referee already this season are Millwall's David Livermore (and why couldn't the suspension have been delayed) in their 0-0 draw at Watford and Michael Svensson of Southampton, sent off at Tottenham in a 2-1 defeat.

The last time he was in charge of a Burnley game was the Worthington Cup tie against Palace on the Turf, the night Nik Michopoulos made his Clarets' debut. That was a quiet night with just one Palace player booked.

His last Burnley league game was a match in which he went virtually unnoticed - it was Ian Wright's Burnley debut against Wigan. Five players were yellow carded that day with Lenny Johnrose and Mitchell Thomas the Burnley players booked.

Amongst other games he was also the man in charge when Chris Waddle scored his only Burnley goal, a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.

Certainly from past performances in Burnley games we shouldn't have too much to worry about tomorrow.
