Davis joins Seasiders

Probably Davis’ departure from Turf Moor met with a more mixed reaction than any other. He did appear to be struggling to shake off injuries but Davis had been, in two spells, a major player for Burnley for over a decade.

He left though, along with twelve other players, as Stan set about building a new squad and there don’t seem to have been a shortage of clubs interested although Blackpool have been favourites for some time.

Steve Davis is more than a proven player at Blackpool’s level and should he be able to steer clear of further injury then I’m sure he will do a good job in a tangerine shirt.

There is one thing for certain and that is that there won’t be a Burnley fan anywhere who won’t be wanting him to do well and won’t want to send him our best wishes.

The young central defender we signed from Southampton in 1991 after an initial loan period went on to play a significant part in three promotions during two spells with the club and then in establishing us as a First Division club.

Time moves on and so Steve Davis played his last game for us at Franchise in May – he deserved to go out in a better way than a string of bad results and a last match injury.

All the best at Blackpool Steve.
