Davis back for the reserves

Steve is back from injury and will line up in a very experienced side that also includes the returning Brad Maylett and all five susbtitutes from last night’s game at Millwall.

We do really go from extreme to another at Burnley. One minute the manager says he cannot risk his first team squad players in the reserves and the next, ahead of an important cup tie, he throws all apart from those who started last night into today’s game. And that means Andy Payton can’t even get a start in the reserves now, he is named as a substitute.

But it will be all eyes on Steve Davis as a handful of Burnley supporters get the chance to see how he is progressing after being out of the first team for three months.

We line up: Nik Michopoulos, Mak McGregor, Gordon Armstrong, Arthur Gnohere, Earl Davis, Steve Davis, Glen Little, Paul Weller, Dimitri Papadopoulos, Robbie Blake, Brad Maylett. Subs: James Salisbury, Andrew Leeson, Andrew Waine, Matthew O’Neill, Andy Payton,

There is also some experience in the Oldham side. In their side will be former Blackburn players Wayne Gill and Ben Burgess, Burgess is currently there on loan after falling out with Carlton Palmer in the Land of the Unprofessionals, and they will be joined by such as John Eyre, Chris Killen and former Burnley target and ex-Barnsley player Matty Appleby.

The Oldham team is: David Miskelly, Michael Clegg, Adam Griffin, Mark Tierney, Dean Holden, Wayne Gill, John Eyre, Matty Appleby, Chris Killen, Ben Burgess, Scott Vernon. Subs: Danny Forde, Charlie Treacy, Ashley Winn, Carlos Roca, Craig Fleming.

The big question is will Burnley pick up their first home point of the season?
