Danny in Welsh squad

Coyne has won six full caps for Wales, with three of those coming this year. The last one is one he would like to forget though as he gave away a soft goal in the last minute of their World Cup qualifier against Austria in Vienna.

It was the only goal of the game and meant two defeats in four days against the Austrians but manager John Toshack backed Danny immediately and announced he would be in goal for the next game.

That game is next Wednesday against Slovenia and it will be played in the New Stadium at Swansea, the first international to be played there. It is a build up game for their World Cup qualifiers against England in Poland next month.

There are two other goalkeepers in the 23 man squad – Paul Jones of Wolves and Ipswich Town’s 21 year-old keeper Lewis Price.
