Danny goes Dutch

The American was transfer listed after a difficult first season at Turf Moor and it looked as though his bad luck was set to continue when an injury kept him out of training last week and ruled him out of the game at Accrington.

But today came the news that he could win himself a move to the Dutch side who ended last season in second place behind Champions PSV Eindhoven.

Steve Cotterill explained the situation saying: “Danny is flying out to have a trial with AZ on Wednesday. I think they want some younger players to back up their first team squad and put another team underneath and I think that Danny Karbassiyoon comes into that category and price bracket. We will obviously know a little bit more early next week after his trial, which lasts until Sunday.”

No agreement in terms of a fee have been reached for the player who arrived at Turf Moor last summer from Arsenal on a two year contract. He was used as a substitute in the first pre-season friendly at Cheltenham but then injury ruled him out for some time and his next first team appearance came at Villa Park in the Carling Cup tie as a late substitute.

He made just five more appearances, all as a sub, and his last was at the Ricoh Stadium in February against Coventry City in February when he replaced Graham Branch before half time.

At the end of the season he was one of four players listed but has remained at Burnley until now with another year left on his contract. Hopefully he'll take the opportunity to impress with AZ and will win himself a deal.
