Danny Coyne in form

Last updated : 03 September 2005 By Tony Scholes

Coyne has just won his place back in the Burnley side, replacing Brian Jensen following his injury at Watford, and he was very much in form today against England who were clear favourites to beat the Welsh.

He made some excellent saves to keep the Welsh in the game, although his opposite number Paul Robinson made the best save of the afternoon to keep out John Hartson.

The only goal Danny conceded was nine minutes into the second half. He had a Joe Cole shot covered but it took a big deflection off Danny Gabbidon leaving him with no chance. He should be back in action for his country again on Wednesday when Wales play Poland in Warsaw.

Meanwhile Michael Duff didn’t add to his international appearances today despite a late call up for Northern Ireland. He wasn’t able to win a place on the bench as the Irish beat Azerbaijan 2-0 at Windsor Park.
