Danny capped again

Welsh coach John Toshack promised Danny that he would be in the side for this game after his mistake cost them in their last international, back in May, against Austria. And the Burnley keeper repaid him by keeping that clean sheet as they earned a 0-0 draw against Slovenia.

It was a warm up for their forthcoming World Cup qualifier next month against England and despite the depleted side, they will take heart from this draw before that next game.

There was also a place for our former loan player Richard Duffy, who made his full international debut, in a side that was captained by John Hartson.

It was the first international to be played at the New Stadium in Swansea and there were over 10,000 there. The last international played in Swansea was in 1988 at the Vetch Field.

Tonight brought Danny Coyne his fourth full cap as a Claret but he’s some way behind the likes of Leighton James and Brian Flynn who won 23 and 33 caps respectively whilst playing for Burnley.
