Curson is referee

Last updated : 15 October 2004 By Tony Scholes

Curson is now in his fifth season on the league list but only in 2002/03 season has he previously refereed Burnley games, and then he turned in two horror performances.

He lost control of our home win against Walsall almost two years ago to the day when, with hardly a foul of note, he run around waving his yellow card whilst getting very little right.

And then later in the season he crowned another bad performance by carding Portsmouth’s Svetoslav Todorov for over celebrating a goal, it was the goal that clinched Pompey’s promotion but Curson was having none of it.

He’s had a relatively quiet start to this season and has handed out just twenty-one yellow and a single red card in nine matches to date. Six of those yellows came in the Carling Cup tie between Kidderminster and Cardiff, that tie also saw Tony Vidmar sent off.

Away team players have been twice as likely to see yellow, seven of them have gone to home team players whilst the other fourteen have gone the way of away team players.

He will be assisted by Gavin Ward (Kent) and Irvine Woodward (East Sussex).
