Cricketers win big game

Fred West's 50 was not enough to win the day for the footballers
The Cricket Club batted first and scored 255, a total that was thought to be way beyond the Football Club. England opening bowler James Anderson starred with the bat making a half century.

But the England star was unable to get amongst the wickets and in fact went for eight an over during his spell. He did in fact bowl just one over taking no wickets for eight runs.

In the end though the total proved too much for the footballers although there were excellent unbeaten knocks from Fred West 56 and new youth team goalkeeper Michael Hale who made 46.

Of the new signings only Brian Jensen played, keeping wicket incredibly and putting his hands and fingers at risk whilst Camara, Chadwick and Roche looked on.

There was a decent sized crowd, including Stan and Barry Kilby, at Turf Moor for the afternoon’s entertainment.
