Danny was one of just two keepers in the original squad and he looked favourite for a start before Fulham’s Mark Crossley pulled out and was replaced by Paul Jones, currently on loan at Watford.

Without any first team action since being stretchered off injured at QPR at the end of October his return was a winning one with the Welsh beating Hungary 2-0 at the Millennium Stadium on a brand new pitch that was only put in place earlier today.

Coyne won his first cap back in 1996 whilst with Grimsby but had to wait until 2002 before collecting his second, by which time he was with Leicester. The last of his previous five caps came last May when he played the first half of a 1-0 win against Canada at the Millennium Stadium.

He has become the sixth Claret to win a full Welsh cap whilst with the club and also the 51st Burnley player to be capped at full international level for seven different countries.
