Coyne set for loan deal

That was all revealed by manager Steve Cotterill this morning with the Burnley boss set to consider any further requests from clubs to take Danny to allow him to get some much needed match action.

“We thought there was a possibility of sending Danny out on loan this week,” Cotterill said. “I would have encouraged it and been happy with it, but it seems as though the club have pulled out of the deal for some reason according to Danny's agent.

“It would give him some first team action and it might be something I would look at,” he added after seeing his goalkeeper play in the 1-1 draw against Crewe on Tuesday at Gawthorpe. “It's the best he's been, that more time has given him the extra sharpness and put more of a spring in his step.

“I don't know quite know how he would do at the moment, and it is just a pity that the Wales' games weren't a month further down the line, he would have been closer to involvement then.”

It's over a year since Danny saw any league action, suffering his cruciate ligament injury on the last Saturday in September in our 1-1 home draw with Brighton. He's obviously close to being ready, and it will be good to have two goalkeepers available again.
