Coyne on the way back

Danny has been on the bench for the Clarets in each of the last three games, and that's been good news, particularly at Luton following the events of last season. It is a welcome return for the goalkeeper who has been out since his cruciate ligament injury in September of last year.

Since then, Brian Jensen has been in goal for all but one of our games, and that means Danny will have to try and win his place back. It is the same with his county. He was called up for last night's friendly, but despite the absence of both Paul Jones and Lewis Price he didn't make the bench with Jason Brown playing and Darren Ward named as substitute.

“It has been a frustrating year,” Danny told the press, “But that's behind me now and I'm looking forward. It is great to be back in the Welsh squad, but realistically I know I cannot hope to play until I am playing for Burnley again.”

Coyne, who admitted that it was a hard road getting back to fitness, having to overcome the psychological barrier as well as recovering from the injury, revealed that now might be the time to go out on loan. “A loan move may be just what I need to enable me to get a few games under my belt. I need that regular football to get my competitive edge back.”
