Coyne gets late call up

Although in the last squad, he was excluded this time with Paul Jones (QPR), Lewis Price (Ipswich) and Darren Ward (RK Sunderland) all preferred. That was until today when John Toshack added both Danny and Gillingham midfielder Andrew Crofts to his squad.

It is seventeen months, and one long injury break, since Coyne last played for his country. That was a World Cup Qualifier against Poland in Warsaw in September 2005 just over two weeks before he suffered his cruciate ligament injury.

He was back in the squad recently, and won his place back in the Burnley side before a hamstring injury against Derby kept him our for four weeks.

He's fit again now, and is expected to be on the bench for us tomorrow but it would be good to see him resurrect his international career with a game against a Northern Ireland side including Michael Duff, Steve Jones and Kyle Lafferty, although Jones remains doubtful with a thigh injury.
