Coyne gets call up

Despite losing his place recently in the Burnley side Danny Coyne is one of three goalkeepers named in the Welsh squad for two international games coming up in the next few weeks.

Danny was concerned that he might miss out because of not being in the Burnley side, but he is one of three goalkeepers named for a friendly against New Zealand to be played at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on Saturday 26th May and a European qualifier at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff a week later when their opponents will be the Czech Republic.

His chances of being named in the side have improved with the news this week that RK Sunderland goalkeeper Darren Ward has decided to retire from international football and the other two keepers named are Ipswich's Lewis Price and Wayne Hennessey of Wolves, the young goalkeeper who recently kept nine successive clean sheets whilst on loan to Stockport.

Coyne has been capped fourteen times by his country, nine of those caps coming since he joined the Clarets in the summer of 2004, and he will be hoping to add to that by being named in the starting eleven for these two games.
