Coyle signs contract

Coyle first joined the Clarets in November 2007 and in his first full season has steered us back to top flight football for the first time in 33 years.

But even before the Wembley triumph there was news of a contract extension. Back in April, at a time when there was speculation that he could be lined up by Bolton as a replacement for Gary Megson, he told Burnley fans that he'd already spoken to Barry Kilby and Brendan Flood about a new deal.

At the time Coyle said: ""There are certain things that motivate me and I want to fulfil the project I came here to do and the plan I have in place. That was the biggest thing for me. Wherever I have been I have never been motivated by money.

"So we are not a million miles away. The biggest problem is getting us all sat down together because Brendan and the chairman have businesses to run, but the first chance we have to sit down together I am sure we can put it to bed."

He added: "I am committed and focused here and it is nice when people say nice things, but my concentration is here at the football club and nothing will distract me from that."

There was a reason it couldn't be put to bed as quickly as he hoped in April, but there were no complaints at that given it was the need to concentrate solely on the remaining part of the league season and then the play offs.

Before the last Burnley fans had left Wembley we had the Celtic news. That was quickly dismissed by both Kilby and Coyle with the chairman claiming the new deal was very close. One very deserved Florida holiday for Coyle on and that time has been reached and Owen Coyle is now contracted to Burnley until the end of the 2012/13 season and I don't think there will be any complaints about that from those with an interest in the goings on at Turf Moor.
