Coyle spoke about the massive change in fortune between August and September and said he always believed we were a better side than the one that had gone down to Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich in the first two games.

During an interview on Sky Sports News he praised all his players and his backroom team of Sandy Stewart, Steve Davis, Phil Hughes and Cliff Roberts whilst paying special tribute to Russell Anderson who is now out for the season after being stretchered off in the cup win against Fulham with damage to his anterior cruciate ligament.

Following that interview he told the club' site: "The manager of the month is always a tremendous accolade, but it is a credit to the football club and everyone involved," he said.

"Obviously as a figure head I am delighted to accept the award, but it is through the hard work that everyone hs put in and it's a collective award for the club, so we will all share it.

"I would, however, like to put on record an enourmous debt of gratitude to Russell Anderson who played an enormous part. If anyone deserves the award it's him because he came into the football club and was fantastic for us.

"OUr thoughts are with him and, hopefully, a speedy recovery."
