Coyle lifts coach title

Golfer Catriona Matthew won the main award, that of Scottish Sports Personality, with Sir Alex Ferguson, Andy Murray, Dario Franchetti and John Higgins the others to be nominated.

But it was the Coach of the Year Award that was won by the Clarets' boss. He won it after steering Burnley into the Premier League in his first season as a manager in England and for taking us on the cup runs that included victories over five Premier League teams.

He was one of three nominated for the award but came out on top against Scotland rugby boss Andy Robinson and curling coach Isobel Hannan.
