Since Barry Kilby became Chairman we have been a club that gives managers every opportunity. There's no quick fix method of getting rid and bringing in a new one every time there's a difficult run of results. That's a real plus for our club, and there's no doubt that continuity through Stan Ternent and Steve Cotterill to Owen Coyle has been a major factor in us getting to and establishing ourselves in the Championship.
Coyle has been with us now for just over fifteen months and with a current contract that has more than two years remaining. Now he's been able to confirm that he's in talks with Kilby and Brendan Flood with a view to lengthening that contract.
Owen said today: "There was all sorts of speculation last week, but I have got no intentions of going anywhere. I love it at this football club and we are not anywhere near where I want to be in terms of taking the club on.
"I didn't bring players into this football club to be upping and leaving at the first opportunity. That was never going to be the case because we want to continue what we are doing and look to build.
"We are all in this together and I am here for as long as the club want me, they know that. So much so that the Chairman, Brendan Flood and I have had a chat about making the contract a bit longer.
"We will deal with that when the time is right and I am very much on board for that because we do have ambitious plans to take this club on."
