Peter Reid had emerged as clear favourite yesterday to become the new Burnley manager but news this morning has revealed that the Clarets will be appointing St. Johnstone boss Owen Coyle.

Today is a new day, and it now looks certain that Reid has not been offered it. He himself has said that he's been contacted by the Clarets who have informed him that they intend to appoint the current St. Johnstone boss Coyle.
It is thought that with Coyle under contract we will have to pay compensation of around £150,000 to land him. It looks as though we can expect this appointment to be confirmed soon.
