Coyle confirmed as Bolton boss

What has been a difficult week for Burnley Football Club started with Coyle wanting to leave for Bolton and then being placed on gardening leave by the Clarets with no agreement from Wanderers.

With the search for his replacement underway, Burnley confirmed this evening that compensation had been agreed with Bolton for an undisclosed sum leaving him free to join the Horwich based club.

It was a very brief statement from Burnley that ended Coyle's reign at Turf Moor, the statement not disguising just how hurt and disappointed club officials must be at the way he's gone about this.

Around the same time Bolton confirmed his appointment, surprisingly on a contract that is one year less than was remaining on his deal at Turf Moor.

There has been no comment from the club about any of Coyle's back room staff. There has been much speculation regarding who he might want to take with him with suggestions he wants to take the entire back room.

With Steve Davis being put in charge with Phil Hughes, that suggests both Sandy Stewart and John Henry might well no longer be involved at Burnley. It would surely be no surprise to see these two move to the Reebok with Coyle.
