Coventry confirm Coleman

Coleman was surprisingly sacked by Fulham last season, a decision made to look even stranger when he was replaced by Lawrie Sanchez. He opted to move to Spain in the summer with Real Sociedad but resigned his position recently after interference from the new president.

He was tipped to get the Southampton job amongst others, but Coventry have moved in and persuaded him to take over from Iain Dowie at the Ricoh with the side languishing in twentieth place in the Championship and having just gone out of the FA Cup to West Brom.

He takes over immediately and would have been in charge of their league game tonight against Sheffield Wednesday but it has been called off because of frost and fog. Coleman has signed a deal with Coventry until the end of the 2010/11 season.
