Duane Courtney
It was Yates and Howarth who played a major role in getting him to Turf Moor four years ago. At the time Howarth, who made one substitute appearance for the Clarets at Colchester in 1990, was manager of AFC Telford where Courtney had just won the player of the year award.

When Courtney left Burnley a year later Howarth had moved to Kidderminster as assistant to Mark Yates who had departed the Clarets to take over as manager. They quickly moved in to sign Courtney but he opted to move to Welsh Premier League Club TNS.

A year later they tried to sign him again but he opted to remain with TNS for a further two years before being released this summer. He's been training with Kidderminster and has impressed enough in the pre-season games to win himself a one year deal.

Yates said on completing the transfer: "Duane is a lad Neil and I both know. He's quick, he can play anywhere across the back four, he's athletic, strong and has a good throw on him.

"He's infectious. You only have to meet him to tell he's desperate to do well and is desperate for a chance. He's a good solid performer."
