Courtney on trial

Courtney, one of four players placed on the transfer list at the end of last season, had failed to find himself another club although he did turn down a move to Kidderminster Harriers on the eve of the new season.

He wasn't in the squad for any of the early games and two weeks ago tomorrow he followed Danny Karbassiyoon out of the club when his contract, which was due to run until the end of this season, was cancelled by the club.

Today he turned out at Radcliffe Borough's Inn2gether Stadium, one of five trialists in the Bury side that took on Carlisle United in the Pontin's League and came within eight minutes of a big win.

Courtney played full back and played his part for the Shakers as they went into a 3-0 lead just after half time. A big win looked on the cards but they couldn't add to their tally and in the end had to settle for a point after Carlisle scored three times in the last eight minutes to earn themselves a draw.
